Antaris recently participated in the ISO Ireland Exhibition that took place place on the 18th of September at Croke Park in Dublin. The agenda included the discussion of four ISO standards: ISO 9001, ISO 14001, ISO 45001 & ISO 50001.
The main goal of the event was to bring together local businesses that are considering certification against one or more of the above-mentioned standards and international organisations who have already implemented these standards. The event was a combination of the presentation of several case studies and opinions of industry expert auditors and consultants. The keynote speakers discussed the benefits of implementing these standards within their own organisations. Antaris was the first company in Ireland to be certified against ISO 45001. Our senior consultant, Finbarr Stapleton spoke about his experience in the industry particularly focussing on the successful implementation of the new ISO 45001 as a lot of organisations are either transitioning from OHSAS 18001 to ISO 45001 or are in the process of getting certified to the new standard.
The most popular topics were the clauses within the standard that state the importance of effective communication internally within the organisation and understanding the needs and expectations of employees (Clause 4.2). Formal mechanisms such as setting up a safety committee and ensuring consultation and/or involvement of workers while developing organisations’ OH&S policy and objectives were discussed as well (Clause 5.4). Focus was also put on the role of external and internal communication and how crucial it is to communicate OH&S policies and risks, including changes made to the OH&S management system across various levels and functions of the organisation (Clause 7.4).
At Antaris, we provide consultancy services to organisations that are seeking advice for successful implementation of ISO standards and software services to support compliance.
